About the Author
Marisa Noelle is the writer of middle grade & young adult novels in the genres of science-fiction, fantasy & mental health including The Shadow Keepers, The Unadjusteds Trilogy (The Unadjusteds, The Rise of the Altereds, & The Reckoning), and The Mermaid Chronicles – Secrets of the Deep.
She is a mentor for the Write Mentor program that helps aspiring MG & YA authors. With dual citizenship, Marisa has lived on both sides of the Atlantic and uses settings in both the USA and UK as inspiration for her novels.
When she’s not writing or reading or watching movies, she enjoys swimming. In the pool she likes to imagine she could be a mermaid and become part of some of her make-believe words. Despite being an avid bookworm from the time she could hold a book, being an author came as a bit of a surprise to her as she was a bit of a science geek at school. My Thoughts
Things are finally back to normal for everyone. They have defeated Earl, and Silver can breathe easily. Except, things aren’t going to plan, and Silver is having a hard time coping. It doesn’t help Matt has become overprotective and a bit controlling. So meeting Eli is a nice break from the chaotic mess in her mind. Their friendship might be just the thing Silver needs.
This is a tough review to write. Noelle put us in a pinball machine and tossed us around as she played. I found myself irrationally angry with Matt. He was controlling and stifling. It’s no wonder Silver spent a lot of time with Eli. But this is the couple you want to pull together and work out to save the world. They have always done what they needed to get things done. When Matt was at his worse, I was cheering Noelle for writing him so well that I felt such emotion. Overall, an addicting and satisfying read and conclusion to the trilogy.
Excerpt
I scream myself awake. Black lightning bolts shoot from my palms and take chunks out of the plaster.
“Silver!” Matt yells and tackles me back to the bed.
His arms trap me. I fight against him, but I can’t move. Why can’t I move? I’m stronger than him. Panic runs through me, blurring my vision, making me pant and causing an excruciating pain to tighten in my chest. The black lightning bolts shoot everywhere, but Matt doesn’t cower away from them, even when they scorch his hair.
“It’s just a dream, Silver,” Matt says in my ear. He doesn’t let go and eventually I stop struggling.
