Truth Be Told, Kia Abdullah

“It’s okay to not be okay.”

Kamran, a teenager at an elite boarding school, comes to Zara in an oft untold story. He’s been raped. He’s scared and doesn’t know if he’s doing the right thing. Being from a Muslim family, he’s unsure what his family will think. He fears his overbearing father. But he needs to find some peace, and this might be the only way to find that peace.

If you’re looking for a strong heroine who fights for what is right, then this is the series for you. I wanted to be so mad at Kamryn’s mother, but you can’t be mad at her. She’s doing what she’s always done, except not really. Cracks are showing. She loves her boys so much and wants the best for them. That quote above was hers, and it was so very touching when she said it.

This book is incredible, but it turned me on my head when we neared the finish line. I feel like the story isn’t finished, and perhaps in book 3, Zara’s relationship with the boy she’s been trying to help will continue. Her character has already experienced so much growth in such a short time. This book, this series, is terrific, and they’re books you don’t want to miss.

Read and like this review on Amazon, Goodreads, and Bookbub.

Truth Be Told is available for purchase on Amazon and B&N.

About the Book:
Are you ready to start this conversation?

Kamran Hadid feels invincible. He attends Hampton school, an elite all-boys boarding school in London, he comes from a wealthy family, and he has a place at Oxford next year. The world is at his feet. And then a night of revelry leads to a drunken encounter and he must ask himself a horrific question.

With the help of assault counsellor, Zara Kaleel, Kamran reports the incident in the hopes that will be the end of it. But it’s only the beginning…

Powerful, explosive and important, Truth Be Told is a contemporary courtroom drama that vividly captures today’s society. You will not stop thinking about it for a long time to come.
