I won this in a Goodreads giveaway and started it the second arrived. I didn’t put it down until 3 hours later when I turned the last page. The thing that drew me to the book is the title and subject, especially considering I’ve had chronic insomnia for 30 years. I know what it’s like to go 5 days with no sleep, and I can tell you that Pinborough has written Emma’s struggles well. While I can’t say it’s the same for every person, in 30 years, I’ve never once experienced hallucinations, but you’ve read enough that people do. So it’s in that where our unreliable narrator comes from.
Insomnia is a book where you question everyone because you don’t have anyone you can believe. Emma is untrustworthy. She worries that she’s going to turn out like her mother. Her sister appears to be doing her best to cast doubt on anything Emma says. Emma’s husband is equally acting shifty, and he’s not to be trusted either. So it’s a race to the finish to figure out precisely what is going on and where the slivers of truth lie. This is an absolutely addicting read. Thank you, William Morrow, for sending this along!

Nice review, I’ve only suffered from Insomnia a few times in my life, but it’s awful when it happens. I’m sorry you’ve suffered chronic insomnia for such a long time.
