L.C. North studied psychology at university before pursuing a career in Public Relations. Her first book club thriller – The Ugly Truth – combines her love of psychology and her fascination with the celebrities in the public eye. L.C. North is currently working on her second novel, and when she’s not writing, she co-hosts the crime thriller podcast, In Suspense. L.C. North lives on the Suffolk borders with her family. L.C. Dramatic headlines garner readers. What’s more dramatic than Melanie disappearing for months? She would never leave her boys behind. Everyone has an opinion, and they joyfully make that opinion known. Told in alternating viewpoints, through varying storytelling styles of a Netflix documentary, Twitter posts, and interviews, this unique story tells the story of the cost of being a celebrity.
Melanie is one of the truly good people in the public eye. But unfortunately, the media doesn’t sell good people, they sell hot messes. So they go out of their way to stalk and harass Melanie to get the perfect pic, and if they don’t get the perfect pic, they edit existing ones to make them more desirable. North covered so many angles to this story; it’s really a startling read. The suspense was so stressful that the last 30% of the book had me racing through it, unable to stand the not knowing any longer. The Ugly Truth is a unique, fantastic look at fame, the paparazzi, mob mentality, and computer warriors bullying from behind a screen. So very well done!
